Let's Go For a Run

Not feeling a hike but want to get out and enjoy the great outdoors? We’ve put together our top 3 favorite flat, scenic walking/running paths in Boulder.

Boulder Canyon Trail

Parking: drive up Canyon road a couple minutes into the mountains, just past Canon Park Rd, you’ll see off road parking to the left and right. (The path is on the right but you can park in either place)

Why We Love It: Most nature-filled

This path is along a rushing creek and through the mountains. It alternates between paved and gravel and is flat all the way. It’s an out and back path that goes 1.9 miles to the junction of Four Mile Canyon Dr. There are plenty of spots to stop along the path to relax and listen to the creek. If you want a flat path IN the mountains and near town, this one’s for you!

South Boulder Creek - West Trailhead

Parking:1401 S Foothills Hwy, Boulder, CO 80305

Why We Love It: Best photo ops

We love this path because it has sprawling Mountain View’s from start to finish. It’s an out and back trail that is flat the first mile and slightly inclined after that. We’ve never seen many people on this path, maybe a few the entire hour we were on it. We recently took our parents on it and it was a highlight of their trip. If you’re lucky, you might even get a close up of some cows near the Trailhead. Fair warning, you will want to snap a million pictures because the views are ah-mazing!

South Boulder Creek Trail

Parking: Bobolink Trailhead on Baseline Rd and Gaptor Rd

Why We Love It: Most private

The first 1.5 miles is along the creek with trees and breakthrough views of the Flatirons. After you pass under the road, you’ll follow the path right along the road and then turn left through a gate. Trust us, KEEP GOING! The last 2 miles are the best  part - a very slight incline through an open field with unobstructed views of the mountains. You’ll see a few joggers or bikers but otherwise you basically have the path to yourself. We often bike it if we plan to take it to the end and back (a total of 7 miles).  This photo was taken in the spring, but the path is beautiful any time of year!
