It's Not Winter Yet!
We're holding onto summer like...
Even though the leaves are starting to change, there's still plenty of time to enjoy ice cream before the first snow hits (well, with Colorado weather, who actually knows!). Here are our top picks for ice creameries in Boulder!
Heifer and the Hen
4 words. ICE CREAM AND SWINGS. Heifer and the Hen is an organic ice cream shop off Arapahoe with unique and delicious flavors. AND you can eat it while swinging (disclaimer-- it is semi-difficult to get on the swing while holding ice cream, for those who are less coordinated a.k.a. us). Pictured: Tres Leches (it had actual pieces of cake in it!) and Peanut Butter-- YUM.
Glacier Homemade Ice Cream
Glacier Ice Cream & Gelato is a Boulder staple. What to say about Glacier...they just get it. They've been around since 2001 and since then come up with over 1000 flavors (with new flavors coming out each week) . What kind of flavors you ask? Among our favorites are: Death By Chocolate (a double dark chocolate base with chocolate chunks with a hot fudge swirl), Funky Donkey (peanut butter ice cream with Oreos and a homemade fudge swirl), and Pumpkin (get in and try some before it's gone!) For the pumpkin lovers out there - seriously the best pumpkin flavored thing you'll have this fall. The north Boulder Glacier even has ALCOHOL INFUSED ice cream (!) sold by the pint to take home. Among these flavors are Hot Chocolate Peppermint Schnapps, Fireball Cinnamon, and Butterscotch Bourbon. Go to Glacier and you will leave one happy camper.
Sweet Cow
Sweet Cow is one of our favorites because it has an abundance of deliciously unique flavors (like Fluffernutter, Banana's Foster, and Sweet Corn-- although we're not so sure about that one!). This shop wins the "best ambiance" award and is reasonably priced per scoop (in case you want to try more than one flavor!). Try locations in South Boulder, North Boulder, Louisville, and if you're lucky you might catch their ice cream truck at the Rayback Collective.
