A Weekend in Golden
A staycation was much needed after a hectic week, and Golden was the perfect place! We tried some delicious cocktails at a speakeasy, stayed at the most charming Inn, and devoured a delicious brunch complete with champagne flights. We enjoyed it so much, we wanted to share the details with you!
The Dove Inn
This was a highlight of our weekend and we couldn’t be happier that we stayed here. The Dove Inn is a beautiful Victorian home built in 1866 that’s been completely renovated. They’ve managed to keep the old charm with exposed brick and antique furnishings. There was a coffee bar with local coffee and a variety of brewing techniques available (with instructions!). They also have local granola, yogurt, and pastries as light breakfast options. Our room was huge, with a kitchen, couch, bed, and our dream bathroom. We just felt so comfortable there, we never wanted to leave! One of the best parts is that it’s located downtown. We loved being able to walk a minute to grab brunch or drinks, especially since it was a snowy weekend. We spent a girls’ night at the inn, but we’d also highly recommend it for a date night staycation!
Brunch at Indulge
After making our pour over coffee in the adorable kitchen at Dove Inn, we headed out to brunch in town. We tried Indulge, which is a wine bar by trade, but also has a variety of brunch cocktails and fare. We had a champagne flight and Bloody Mary with an artisan meat and cheese skewer (the best part!). The champagne flight was a fun brunch twist on their typical wine flights. We particularly liked the Collet Brut. The food was equally delicious. The Upstream Benedict had poached salmon and came with perfectly seasoned breakfast potatoes. The other dish we tried was the BLT avocado toast, which had super flavorful avocado and came with eggs sunny side up. We enjoyed our brunch and definitely want to go back for a wine flight and charcuterie board during our next visit to Golden!
Golden Moon Speakeasy
This is one of our favorite places to go in Golden. It’s a speakeasy that also makes their own liquor. What’s not to love? Even better, their cocktails are creative and delicious! We watched the bartender light one on fire and then another, infuse with smoke into a potion bottle. The seasonal cocktail menu was Arrested Development themed (love) so we tried “There’s Always Money in the Banana Stand” and “I Don’t Understand the Question and I Won’t Respond to It”. The cozy atmosphere and unique cocktails combined with the amazing live acoustic music made for the perfect night out!
Mountain Toad
We stumbled upon Mountain Toad Brewery while walking around downtown. We tried the Craft Cream Ale and Mt Zion IPA. The beers were really tasty and their patio was really cute, too! It had a fire pit and string lights. Mountain Toad is definitely worth checking out if you’re in Golden!
Cheers to an awesome weekend in Golden! We had such a great time, are already planning our next trip back. You can book a reservation to the Dove Inn here.
